CAPA Execution

When Planning approval is complete, the CAPA moves to In Execution and the corrective and preventive actions are carried out and completed.

Who is this for?

  • Action Assignees - completing their assigned actions from My Work

  • Author / Owner - keeping the document current and sending it forward

How to do it

When the Planning approval is complete, the CAPA moves to In Execution and the corrective and preventive actions are carried out.

  1. Assignees complete their actions from My Work. Mark each action as completed.

    1. Completed actions show the Completed state which can be tracked on the CAPA's Actions tab.

  2. When all actions are Completed, ensure that relevant information is captured in the CAPA document content by checking out the document and completing the draft.

  3. Select Send for review or Send for Approval based on the next required step.

📝Note: Send for approval is unavailable until an Effective Date is set. For a major new version, a Change Summary is also required before the CAPA can be sent for approval.

❗Completing an action is a record, not a formality. It is supporting evidence that the assigned task was executed, not just a status change. If an action cannot be completed as planned, record the deviation and the decision rather than closing it silently; the execution history is what demonstrates the CAPA was carried out.

💡Tip: Keep the CAPA document content in step with the completed actions. Check the document out and update it before sending for approval, so the narrative and the action records agree.
