Bug Fixes and Improvements
Quality Events & CAPA
This release includes improvements to make Quality Events and CAPAs easier to manage throughout their lifecycle. Updates address customer feedback on record access, workflow guidance, effectiveness checks, and the information available when reviewing quality records.
Improvements include:
Preserve access to previous Quality Event versions for users who no longer have access to the latest version.
Display the Observation Date on Quality Events created from Observations.
Require a reported date when vigilance reporting applies before a Quality Event can be sent for approval.
Improve notifications when CAPA Actions are reassigned.
Provide clearer guidance when completing an Observation intake.
Display more accurate permission messages when users cannot add CAPA Actions.
Align the Effectiveness Check interface across CAPAs and Change Requests.
Improve handling of CAPAs requiring an Effectiveness Check after approval.
Update the Quality Events summary to reflect active records available to the user, for users with access to Observations, Quality Events, and CAPA.
Keep the URL consistent with the retired version when retiring an effective CAPA.
These improvements help users understand what action is required, access relevant quality records, and follow Quality Events and CAPAs more consistently through their workflows.
Document Workflows and Version Visibility
Document workflows have been refined to improve version visibility, relationship information, and approval handling. These updates help ensure that users can identify the relevant document version and progress through document workflows more consistently.
Improvements include:
Indicate when a newer document version is available while viewing an older version, provided the user has access to the newer version.
Display the correct document version in the Relations tab according to the relation's version setting.
Display document IDs and titles correctly for related documents in templates.
Improve checkbox validation for document custom fields so that valid selections are recognized.
Resolve approval workflow issues involving previously assigned approvers.
Improve template approval from My Work so that the approval process completes and the task is updated accordingly.
Clearer version information and more consistent approval handling help users identify the right documents, understand their relationships, and continue their assigned workflow activities.

Training Management

Improvements include:
Update training records when a user is removed from an associated Training Rule, preventing outdated training assignments from remaining.
Show which Training Rules a training record is associated with.
Remove an unintended symbol from the blank state of the Training Matrix.
These updates help users understand why a training record exists and keep training information more consistent as employee assignments change.
Templates
Template workflows have been improved to make approval activities more reliable.
Improvement includes:
Resolve an issue where approving a template from My Work could leave the interface loading instead of completing the approval process.
A more reliable approval process helps approvers complete their assigned tasks and see the updated workflow status.
My Work and Notifications
Updates to My Work and notifications make it easier to understand assigned activities and navigate to the relevant action.
Improvements include:
Clarify that document due dates in My Work refer to the approval due date.
Ensure notifications close appropriately after users select an action.
Clearer due-date information helps users understand which deadline applies to their task, while improved notification behavior makes it easier to continue with the intended activity.
Settings
Document Type configuration has been improved to provide clearer handling when creating a Document Type with a name associated with an archived type.
Improvement includes:
Improve validation when reusing names associated with archived Document Types.
Clearer validation helps administrators understand configuration issues and proceed with Document Type setup more confidently.
System Reliability and User Interface
This release includes improvements to error handling and the way the platform presents feedback when an action cannot be completed.
Improvements include:
Display a clear, user-friendly message when an unexpected login error occurs, while retaining helpful messages for known login issues.
Display more understandable error messages when document creation fails.
Clearer error messages help users understand when something has gone wrong, while improvements to page loading make everyday navigation more predictable.
App Version 2.6.0 focuses on practical improvements that support everyday quality work: managing Quality Events and CAPAs, identifying the correct document versions, keeping training records aligned with current rules, and completing assigned activities with greater consistency.
These updates reflect our ongoing commitment to listening to customer feedback and improving SimplerQMS to support the needs of Life Science organizations.
What's Next from SimplerQMS?
At SimplerQMS, we continuously improve the platform to support evolving life science requirements and customer feedback.
Coming October 21: Access Version History Through Audit Trail
On October 21, 2026, we'll update how document version history is accessed in SimplerQMS.
Currently, document version history is available through two separate areas: Full History, which shows document versions and version changes, and Audit Trail, which records other actions performed on the document. With this update, version history will be accessible through the Audit Trail, bringing version changes and other audit trail events together in one place.
The Audit Trail will include a new View side panel, where you can switch between All and Version Timeline views. This lets you view the complete sequence of document activity or focus specifically on version history, depending on what you need.
The version history functionality will remain available, including:
View version changes and differences
Open a specific document version
Revert to a previous version
View the change summaries and justifications
The Version History menu item will remain available. When you select it, a page will explain the change and direct you to the relevant view in the Audit Trail. Bringing these views together is intended to provide a more complete, sequential record of document activity and address the compliance risk of keeping version history separate from other audit trail events.
No action is required from customers. After the update, follow the link provided on the Version History page to access the functionality through the Audit Trail.
Stay tuned for more product updates from the SimplerQMS team.
We'd Love to Hear from You!
