New Feature
See All Related Records in One Place
The new Relations overview gives you a consolidated view of how an item is connected to other records in SimplerQMS. You can now see both:
What this item points to
What points to this item
Related records are grouped by type, making it easier to understand the context around documents, Change Requests, CAPAs, Training records, and other items without searching for these connections elsewhere.
Improvements include:
View two-way relations to see both outgoing and incoming connections.
Group related records by type for easier navigation and context.
Maintain relations from the Details sidebar, alongside the item's other metadata.
Use Other relations to create additional connections when there is no dedicated relation field available.
Use Relations overview to view existing relations without changing them.
The former References tab is now Relations overview, with a focus on giving you a complete view of existing relationships.
How this supports your work:
Understand record context more easily by seeing related items in both directions.
Find connected records faster without searching for each relationship separately.
Maintain relations where you manage other item details, keeping the editing experience more consistent.
Create additional connections when needed using Other relations.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
Quality Events & CAPA
This release includes several improvements to make Quality Events and CAPA easier to navigate and maintain, while improving the consistency of information across related records.
Improvements include:
View longer linked CAPA titles directly from the Quality Event property card.
Insert additional Quality Event and CAPA information into Word documents, including the originating Observation, source Quality Event, Author, and Vigilance Reporting fields.
Open linked Observations and CAPAs in the same browser tab for more consistent navigation.
Include CAPA Actions in the Effective PDF, providing a more complete record of the completed CAPA.
Keep completed CAPA Actions and their assignees visible when an assigned user is later deactivated.
Prevent completed CAPA Actions from being edited after a CAPA is returned to Planning.
Apply CAPA and Quality Event workflows through their dedicated modules rather than allowing these document types to be created through general Document Control.
Show the Effective/Closure date on Quality Event records for clearer visibility into when an event was closed.
Add CAPA as a reference entity for Custom Fields, making it easier to connect CAPAs with other records.
Improve Quality Event relations so users can discover related Quality Events, CAPAs, and Change Requests more consistently.
These changes help teams maintain clearer relationships between quality records and preserve important information as records move through their lifecycle.
Periodic Reviews
Periodic Review workflows have also been refined to make rescheduling more practical while keeping the existing review process familiar.
Improvements include:
Reschedule Periodic Reviews directly from My Work.
Use the configured review cadence as the default when rescheduling.
Assign the current reviewer by default, with the option to select another reviewer when needed.
Record a justification in the Audit Trail when a new review date or reviewer is selected.
These updates give reviewers more flexibility when circumstances require a review to be rescheduled while keeping the process traceable.
Analytics
Improvement includes:
Add a workflow cycle time graph to Analytics, giving teams visibility into how long documents spend in different workflow states.
This provides another way to understand document workflow performance alongside the existing analytics available for other quality processes.
Document Workflows
We’ve fixed an intermittent issue where making a document or template effective could leave you on the Working Copy view instead of the newly effective version.
Improvements include:
Open the Effective Version automatically after using Make effective.
Display the correct document status and available actions after the transition.
These changes help teams continue workflow from the correct document version without having to navigate there manually.
Document Formatting and Presentation
This release includes fixes for several document rendering and formatting issues, particularly when documents move from Working Copy to Effective status.
Improvements include:
Preserve section breaks when documents become effective.
Keep tick boxes visible in Effective document versions.
Improve PDF rendering to better preserve the original Word document layout.
Address formatting differences between Working and Effective document previews.
Improve document header consistency when documents are released.
These updates help teams work with Effective documents that more closely reflect the formatting of their approved source documents.
Audit Trail
We've improved the Settings Audit Trail to provide more complete records of configuration changes.
Improvements include:
Record when a user is made Active or Inactive, including the actor and time of the change.
Record additional Document Type settings changes, including number formatting, document creation, periodic review settings, and custom field configuration changes.
These changes help teams get a more complete record of configuration changes to support traceability and review.
Navigation and User Interface
Several interface improvements are included to make common actions easier to understand and use.
Improvements include:
Improve Analytics loading behavior so available charts can load independently rather than waiting for the entire page.
Improve selection fields that load options dynamically with clearer loading and error states.
Improve the consistency of page layouts and loading states across the application.
These changes focus on making the interface more predictable as users move between different areas of the QMS.
Notifications and Everyday Reliability
We have also addressed smaller issues that can affect routine work.
Improvements include:
Restore notifications when a document review is closed.
Simplify the underlying Periodic Review architecture without changing how customers use the process.
App Version 2.4.0 focuses on the details that matter in daily QMS work: finding the right information, following related records, working with documents, completing reviews, and understanding where a quality process stands.
